Make or Break for Mitt...

Mitt Romney will make or break his Presidential campaign with a speech on his religion.

If he pulls it off - he will probably emerge as the front-runner as "not Rudy" in the GOP primary.

The best reactions come from Article 6 Blog.

It does appear that Mike Huckabee played the Mormon card - and did so in an adroit fashion. He took advantage of a number of things - and not all of his gains can be undone if Romney pulls this off. At best, he has to get Huckabee to overreach on this - to openly play the religion card.

Romney is off his game a little bit. This is what decides if Romney makes it, or if we now will see a presidential candidate who has excellent qualifications will be shot down due to what amounts to religious bigotry. If Romney is shot down, then conservatism and I will part for good due to irreconcilable differences.

I was thinking about that. I think the problem is not with Romney's LDS faith but with Romney himself. He is a flawed candidate. It wouldn't matter if he were Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Jewish, Episcopalian, or even Martian. It's Romney, not his religion. The fact that he is manipulating his religion to garner attention is just another indicator that Romney is the problem.

Of course Romney is a flawed candidate! They ALL are! And if he's "manipulating his religion to garner attention" he's most certainly not alone. Huckabee, after all, is proclaiming himself the "Christian candidate", and told Falwell that his rise in the Iowa polls was the workings of Divine Providence!

There's an old saying to the effect that perfection is the enemy of good enough.

How did Huckabee play the Mormon Card? People were saying he played the "catholic" card earlier this year that was false.

Let me say that I am hearing not much about his Mormonism. I am hearing far more complaints about what is percieved to be flip flopping
